Public Policy


NASUA has been actively engaged over the past forty years in federal public policy development, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination in a variety of program areas that affect older people. The Association's areas of expertise include:
  • Income and health care entitlement programs, including Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Discretionary human service programs, such as the Older Americans Act, housing, employment and training, health promotion, nutrition, and transportation.
  • A host of other issues including managed care, health and long term care insurance, home and community based services, alternative living arrangements, elder abuse, and quality assurance in health and long term care.

NASUA is part of an intricate national network of health, human service, disability, public service, and aging organizations working to protect the interests of older Americans. Ongoing coalition partnerships include:
